Idaho Population
The capital city of Idaho, Boise, is also Idaho’s largest city. Other popular cities include Coeur D’Alene, Lewiston, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Sugar City, McCall, Sun Valley, Mountain Home and Moscow.
The estimated 2006 population of Idaho is 1,466,465, reflecting a jump of approximately 13.33% since the 2000 census. This makes Idaho one of the fastest growing states in the US. This is reflected in the Idaho real estate statistics as well. In 2005, there were 595,572 housing units, an increase of 12.84% from 2000.
Idaho Economy
Top industries in Idaho’s economy include food processing, lumber and wood products, machinery, chemical products, paper products, electronics manufacturing, silver and other mining, and tourism. Famous for the Idaho potato, this state produces nearly one-third of all potatoes grown domestically. Currently the science and technology sector is the largest in Idaho’s economy. Micron Technology Inc., a computer memory manufacturer, has its headquarters in Boise. Hewlett-Packard, Dell, and AMI Semiconductor all have operations within Idaho.
